Rollover King

Tom has suddenly become rollover king and can be found rolling across the living room floor as I type. Lottie remains the only one with teeth and the only one who is interested in standing up though.

Clever Tom

Just managed to roll from back to front- only several months after Lottie managed it!

Bye Bye Tree

So. Eddie got rid of the tree. He did all the chopping and occasionally I did some pulling on a rope to make sure the branches fell in the right direction. He did very well!! After it was all over though he began to get a bit upset about the amount of wood he was going to have to dispose of so I phoned a garden clearance place to come and get rid of it for us. They should be coming tomorrow for a quote.

Meantime - Lucy looked after Tom whilst I was yanking bits of wood in the right direction...

And finally - when Lottie woke up - I took all the littluns to the playpark so Eddie could go off to B&Q to buy chainsaws and things to help him do "Man Stuff".

Prunes effective

I am delighted to report that prunes appear to have done the trick with Tom!

Other news this Sunday morning - well Eddie is out in the back garden "looking" at the large conifer tree. When I say looking I mean he's sawing bits off. I think he is assessing whether he can take the whole thing down himself or if we need to get a tree surgeon to do the job.

Microwave exploded yesterday so Eddie and Lucy went off to buy a new one. It fits in the same spot as the old one and is highly funky!

Poor Charlotte tried sitting up in her bouncy chair today. She rolled out and smacked her forehead. Huge bump :(

Friday, April 24, 2009

Wooo hooo. I've just booked a mini holiday for us next weekend (bank holiday weekend) at Woolacombe. Lucy should enjoy it anyway!

Success. Both Tom and Charlotte had a whole bowl of the "savoury" prune puree and Tom had an extra spoonful of prunes in his fromage frais for good measure. Fingers crossed it gets him moving!

Puree Mania

Well - yesterday I created a homemade version of the prune/carrot/apple/squash puree. First test with the twins later today. This morning has also been puree mania as I've made courgette puree, asparagus puree, carrot puree and prune puree (to be added to everything to help poor old Tom out - he's a bit bunged up!).

Lucy had her friend Jemma round yesterday - good grief I wish she'd just calm down when her friends are round. They had quite a nice time though - despite arguing about everything. It's Lucy's first go at "lengths" (new swimming class that goes up and down the pool) tomorrow. It's supposed to be much more exhausting so fingers crossed it doesn't put her off.

Butternut Squash, Carrot, Apple and Prunes

I gave in slightly today in Waitrose and bought an "Ella's Kitchen Organic Baby Food" packet. Highly successful with Tom AND Lottie.

Apples (39%)
Carrots (25%)
Squash (20%)
Prunes (16%)

I wonder if a homemade version of the same thing will be equally successful!

Also - I wonder if it was the fact that they felt all grown up in their bumbos that meant they ate it, rather than what it tasted like.

Lunch Time in Bumbos

First time attempt at upright eating. Mealtimes has been in the bouncy chairs so far. This can prove interesting at times as Thomas has a habit of bashing his legs and bouncing his chair - making it quite difficult not to poke the spoon down the back of his throat! Lunch today in the bumbos seemed quite successful - they seemed to think the new uprightness of food was quite exciting!

Cauliflower and Broccoli Cheese

Homemade rather than Heinz.

NOT successful!

Tom just rolled over!

Tom just managed to roll from his front to his back. This is the first time he's managed it in either direction. Doesn't look like he wants to repeat it right now - but still. What a clever boy!

After Swimming

We ALL went swimming yesterday - the twins had their first go in the pool. Not too disastrous - Tom looked like he was about to squeal but managed to keep it together. Lottie attempted to crawl in the water but I manged to keep her face out of it. She did some good kicking legs in the deeper water too. Here they are after we got out and dried them and stuck them both in their car seat. Instant sleep for both.

Babies in Sunglasses

While Lucy played in the softplay - we felt the need to let the twins wear her sunglasses. I have Lottie, Eddie has Tom..

April in the garden

Lucy is off with Eddie and her Granny and Grandad to Portchester castle today. The twins slept badly last night so I thought they should stay at home with me. Here they are sitting in the garden.

Actually this is Tom sitting outside Granny and Grandad's caravan yesterday.

Organix Crunchy Carrot sticks

Needless to say - Lottie thought these were fab and managed to eat a whole one straight away. Thomas, on the other hand, looked rather bewildered and started crying. Ho hum.

Lottie sitting

Lottie has pretty much got the hang of sitting now too..

Sleeping in cots

The twins have been sleeping in their cots for the last month or so, but they've still had their moses baskets inside the cots. Last night I decided that they were too big for their moses baskets. I took the baskets out and adjusted the cot bumpers and gave them both a comfort blanket so it didn't seem like such a large wide open space. Tom took a bit longer to chill out than Lottie but they were both asleep within half an hour and managed to stay in their cots (with only one pit stop to refuel) until the morning.

Good babies.

Lucy's Bird House

We decided Lucy should give Jan a present back - so she made her bird house that Granny and Grandad gave her a while ago, painted it and varnished it - here it is...

Snoozing at the playpark

Snoozing at the playpark today whilst big sister played - using the sun hats for the first time.

Mowing the lawn

Smell of cut grass is in the air - Eddie is mowing the lawn for the first time this year.

Easter Stash

Jan came round last night (next door neighbour) and gave Lucy and the twins an early Easter present...

The twins get the Lindt Bunnies.

What nice neighbours we have.

Lottie just did well with a bowl of pureed parsnips. Tom is having a snooze so missed the new taste sensation.

Magnolia in Blossom

The Magnolia in the front garden is looking rather splendid at the moment. It is covered with flowers and people stop and look at it. It drives poor old Ted next door up the wall though as it drops a huge amount of petals in his immaculate front patio. In Autumn, it drops a similarly huge number of large leathery brown leaves. The poor chap spends ages sweeping them all up.
